Red curb painting

Keep the
lane clear.

Fire lanes only work when drivers can see them. Faded red curbs and worn FIRE LANE lettering are one of the most common items on fire inspections and property walk-throughs. We repaint red curbs, add stencil lettering and refresh fire lane markings in parking lots across Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Bremerton, Olympia and Shelton.

Lettering size, spacing, wording and paint colors are set by your local fire authority and vary from city to city. We confirm what your jurisdiction requires before we paint.

Fire lane curb work includes

  • Red fire lane curb painting
  • Repainting existing faded curbs
  • FIRE LANE and NO PARKING stencil lettering
  • Surface cleaning and preparation
  • Commercial fire access markings
  • Combined with striping and hydrant painting on one visit

Fire lane designations, lettering, dimensions, spacing and approved colors are set by the local fire authority. We confirm your jurisdiction’s requirements and do not promise code compliance until they are confirmed. New fire lanes and designation changes need the fire authority’s and owner’s approval first.

FAQ

Questions

How much does fire lane curb painting cost?

Red curb painting is $4.00 per linear foot, or $6.00 per linear foot with the required white lettering. Additional stencil markings are $45 each. Every visit has a $500 minimum service charge plus a $150 dispatch fee.

What color and lettering do fire lanes need?

Red curbs with white FIRE LANE or NO PARKING lettering are common in Western Washington, but wording, letter size and spacing are set by your city or fire district. We confirm the requirements before painting.

Can you mark a new fire lane?

Yes, once the fire authority has approved the fire lane and the property owner signs off. New layouts and designation changes are quoted separately.

How often should fire lane curbs be repainted?

Whenever the red or the lettering is faded enough to be hard to read. Many properties repaint fire lanes during their regular restriping, which also saves a second dispatch fee.

Do you also do fire lane striping on the pavement?

Yes. See our fire lane striping page for pavement striping and hatching.
